Check out this Pottery Barn Glider Review of one of our absolute favorite chairs!
No nursery is complete without some sort of comfortable chair. Whether it be a rocker or recliner or both, every new parent needs a place in the baby’s room to sit. This is especially true for breastfeeding moms who need a calm place to feed their baby or pump. Finding the perfect chair for you can seem impossible but if you’re looking for the best of the best, we’ve found it for you.
Enter the Pottery Barn Kids’ Wingback Swivel Glider and Recliner. This chair does it all! Fully reclines to a sleeping position, glides back and forth, and spins in full circles for a full range of motion.
The Wingback Swivel Glider & Recliner; A Pottery Barn Glider Review
What We Love
Crafted with new parents’ and nursing mothers’ needs in mind, this plush reclining chair is overstuffed, thickly padded with ample shoulder and elbow space. The chair is virtually silent as it swivels and reclines so as not to wake a sleeping baby – plus, the reclining mechanisms are within easy reach (even for us short mamas) and made so they can be used while holding a baby.
We love that it swivels 360° around, glides like a rocker, but also reclines in case you need to sleep in the baby’s room.
A Variety of Options
Of course, we couldn’t leave all the gorgeous fabrics and colors out of this Pottery Barn Glider review! This recliner comes in both manual and power recline options but with the power option you will be paying a bit more. It comes in five different fabric types:
- Classic Twill: a classic, woven solid cotton with soft texture which comes in three colors white, navy, and gray.
- Textured Weave: a raised weaves and textured fabric which comes in 20 different colors (mostly shades of white, navy, tan, and gray but does have Blush, a pretty light pink).
- Plan Weave: a tightly woven fabric which comes in 8 various shades of white and gray.
- Velvet: a long-wearing performance fabric with a soft sheen and plush pile which comes in five colors olive, silver gray, pale blush, platinum, and ivory.
- Leather: constructed from Aniline-dyed leather. The full-grain or top-grain leathers are soaked in transparent non-toxic dye, with no subsequent pigmented finish coats applied. Dye penetrates the hides, letting the natural grain show through comes in a tan, caramel color.
Depending on what fabric you want determines the price (ranging between $1,299 – 2,199) and how long it takes to deliver the chair to you. Based on the timeframes, we suggest ordering as soon as you decide on your nursery theme; most chairs take up to 10+ weeks to ship.
Construction/Durability
An essential part of this Pottery Barn Glider Review is the construction and durability. This chair is built to last, crafted with a laminated hardwood frame and steel springs for extra cushion and support. The tongue-and-groove joinery ensures lasting strength and endurance.
If you purchase the power option, there is a three-year warranty on the electrical faceplates, power lines, and motors.
The fabric options are all durable and can be spot cleaned using regular upholstery cleaner or soap and water. If a bad stain does happen, there are slip covers available which are machine washable! This chair should last you for years to come.
Is it Worth the Price?
Of course, no matter how glowing our Pottery Barn Glider review is, there remains one important question. What is the price?
The lowest starting price of this chair is $1,299 which can be a deal-breaker for most. However, this chair swivels, glides, and reclines quietly, and is crafted to last for years. If you were to purchase this for your first child’s nursery but plan to have more children, we won’t have to buy another one in 2-3 years, this one will still be in great shape.
This chair’s back is a little over 3 feet tall, making it one of the bigger nursery recliners available which is great for taller parents. It’s seat is almost two feet wide but is also two and half feet deep giving parents extra room to sink into the plush fabric.
You may find a recliner that is cheaper or a rocker, but I doubt you’ll find some that does all three with this comfort level.

“My pottery barn swivel glider was by far my most expensive purchase and I don’t regret it at all. I’ve had used it everyday/night for the last seven years next month with all 3 of my kids so far. From middle of the night feedings to cuddles and reading a book before bed.” – AutumnSky002
“I bought the modern wingback Glider from Pottery Barn Kids. The chair is great but it took me 13 weeks to receive it.” – Kinsey035
“I swear by this glider and recliner. I got it for my first baby that I had last year. I loved that it glides and reclines. It’s totally worth it!!! My husband fits in it great too. Good for tall people” – kelsey246
“We have the swivel recliner from pottery barn kids. I love it! Our crib is bratt decor- I already owned this as it was my first child’s.
Most of the furniture in our house is pottery barn and I’ve always been super happy with the quality and customer service! I’m obsessed with the recliner and it’s really comfortable.” –sburrows2013
“We had the glider in our son’s nursery and it was my favorite baby item!!! this time we are getting one that matches our living room furniture and keeping it out there since baby will share a room with big brother!” –saraberry23
“I got my PBK modern glider when they were running a 30% off sale and used my PB credit card and got an additional 10% off. For me it was the variety of fabrics to choose from but most importantly the size. I’m tall and plus size and my husband is over six feet. I didn’t want a chair that felt as if it was going to break as I rocked my (probably huge) baby. Nor did it want one that pinched my butt.
PB has some great options that are wide and have a higher back. It’s not a magical chair, but it feels like it’ll last and make a nice regular chair for his bedroom moving forward. (I’ve already washed the slip cover after an unfortunate breast milk accident from my SIL trying out the chair? and it washed perfectly.)” –jillBjan
“I absolutely love my pottery barn swivel glider recliner, it is so comfortable, and we use it every day. We didn’t get it until my little guy was maybe 8 months old, had an ikea rocker before as my husband didn’t think it was worth it. Man, he is the first these days to eat his words and admit he was wrong. I am very much looking forward to having it from the beginning this time around, especially if this little one is anything like his brother and only wants to be held a lot in the beginning.” – maggieb428
“So we order a modern glider and recliner through the pottery barn kids store. I saw it online but called our local store to see if it was in stock to view and they wanted us to order through them so badly due to the decline of in person store purchases. We did because they found us great discounts and were awesome with customer service. The glider was backordered, which was fine, but I told them I needed it before the baby arrived. They made it happen! It was great and has lasted through a lot of milk/formula/pee stains in the last year and a half! Still looking and working great!”-Nellygnu
This chair tops our list of best nursery gliders for a reason. It is ultra-comfortable and is durable enough to last for years (meaning you can use it for multiple babies!). We hope this Pottery Barn Glider review of the Wingback Swivel Glider and Recliner has helped narrow down your choices for the perfect nursery chair!
