When my friend and cubemate Sunny was expecting her son, she complained to me about a white outfit she received as a gift. “Who’s going to put a baby in white?” she said. Years later, when Heather was invited to wear white for a full weekend as part of a Tide promotion at a conference, she realized she didn’t own any white at all. “It’s just not practical.”
My conclusion had been that white and kids just don’t mix. But I’ve been called wrong.
Color me shocked, but an increasing number of baby gear items this year are a stylish modern white. Sure they look fantastic, and the accent colors pop nicely, but I’m not sure it’s welcome by parents. I’d rather dye than have a white nursery. (Snort.) Do you think they should tone it down or is this bright trend a welcome one?
Here are some products I spotted at the Biggest Baby Shower event.
joovy walker in “greenie” – comes in four colorways, all white with different fabric inserts
this pretty crib from numinumi is birch on the ends and white on the sides
this mamas and papas feeding chair with tray comes in three juicy colors, all paired with a white plastic molding
And you may recall that we showcased this white highchair from BabyBjorn last year.
