You will love our simple Earth Day activities for preschoolers. Kids are such incredible stewards of our planet. In fact, my kids are more conscious about recycling and saving energy than most adults I know. That is why we partnered with Stonyfield® Organic Kids® yogurt to share some of our favorite ways to celebrate Earth Day with little ones.
3 Fun + Simple Earth Day Activities for Preschoolers
I don’t know about you but finding fun projects and getting my kids outside helps our days go much more smoothly. April is Earth Month and so we have been planning some fun and exciting activities that will help us stay active. I am sharing three of our favorite activities below for you to try with your toddler today.
1 Seedling Starter Project
My kids have learned that recycling helps save our planet and so they come up with some amazing activities that help use recycle and re-use things around the house.Â
Stonyfield® Organic Kids® yogurt cups work perfectly for seedling planter pots or tiny gardens as my little one calls them. All you have to do is rinse them out when your kids are done devouring their delicious yogurt and then poke a few holes on the bottom of the cups.
Next, you simply fill the cups with planting soil and place a few seeds in each of the little pots. The kids will love waking up each morning to check on their gardens. Speaking of Stonyfield® Organic Kids® yogurt cups did you know that their multipacks are made from plants? Plant-based cups are better for the environment because they have a lower carbon footprint than their petroleum-based counterpart and Stonyfield® Organic Kids® is the only kids yogurt available in plant-based cups.
2 Park/ Beach/ or Playground Clean Up
Teaching kids about sustainability and pollution are two excellent ways to help raise a global guardian. An easy way to do this is to host a park/beach/ or playground clean-up. This allows kids to learn about pollution and its damaging effects, while also learning about the importance of volunteerism as a way to combat the problem.
To keep everyone energized make sure to pack some Stonyfield® Organic Kids® yogurt cups. We love freezing ours and allowing them to thaw in our bags when we are on the go. That way they are cool and refreshing when it is time for a snack.
3 Nature Hunt
My kids love to get their hands dirty and nature offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. One of our favorite ways to explore nature is to go on a nature hunt. Basically, I take the kids on a walk and have them act like detectives as they try and find fun natural treasures along our route. Sometimes they find leaves and acorns and other times its shells and sea glass.
They are always amazed at all the details each of their treasure beholds and our hunts also offer plenty of teachable moments too.
Why Choose Organic + Non-GMO?
As moms we hear a lot about choosing organic and Non-GMO products, but do you really know why choosing organic is so important?
On the market today there are plenty of products that claim to be “natural” but natural is not a regulated word. Only products that are labeled certified organic and Non-GMO Project verified are guaranteed to be made without the use of toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics or GMOs. Which is important for growing kids’ growing bodies. That is one of the reasons I choose to give my kids Stonyfield® Organic Kids® yogurt cups, they are both certified organic and Non-GMO verified. They also recently went through a sugar reduction across its Stonyfield® Organic Kids® portfolio, featuring between 25% – 40% less sugar than the leading kids’ yogurt.
Of course, it helps that my kids think that they taste delicious and love the ”˜cute characters on the cups too!
