Thanks to BabyBjÓ§rn for sending Karen a Baby Carrier One Outdoors just in time for her trip to Malaysia and Bali with a six-month old.
I have two young kids, but we are not really a stroller kind of family. We live on a very steep hill in busy San Francisco and there are lots of occasions when a stroller is just a pain to have around. With both kids, we have always favored a carrier so we can stay active and hands-free while avoiding lugging the stroller with us.
Our family also travels a lot — like multiple continents a year — and we do tend to bring a stroller with us for use in airports. But when we’re navigating the steps, stones, and stall-covered sidewalks of far-flung places, a stroller is often virtually impossible to use. That’s why I always bring a fabric baby carrier when I travel as well. I recently took the new BabyBJORN Baby Carrier One Outdoors on a trip to Southeast Asia with my 6-month-old, Allie. The carrier has extra padded shoulder straps and easily adjusts to fit me or my husband.
IÂ like the handy phone pocket that lets me easily capture candid pictures or look up maps without digging into my backpack.
At this age, we can carry baby in the facing-in or front-facing position, depending on her mood. The Baby Carrier One Outdoors also offers a back carrying position for when baby is 12 months or older.
One of us wore baby Allie in the Baby Carrier One Outdoors almost every day of the trip – including while cycling on a tricked-out pedicab, searching for street art in Penang’s 100-degree weather, monkeying around with primates in Bali, hiking up the 1200-year-old stone steps of Borobudur, and so much more. When baby Allie is front-facing, everyone wants to meet her. I have a feeling this carrier will see a lot of places around the world!! I don’t leave home without it.
