I recently wrote about how (and when) to choose a great maternity and nursing bra, but I thought I’d offer up my favorite nursing bras for different scenarios. If I’ve missed one of your favorites, let me know!
The Workhorses
These are your everyday bras – not the cutest or sexiest, but you’ll wear them every day, all day. The Bravado Bodysilk Seamless nursing bra looks super-smooth under t-shirts and tanks, and is comfortable enough to wear to bed. For a little more structure and style, the YooToo bra is a great option to choose for your everyday nursing bra.
The Sexy Beasts
Are you tired of feeling like a literal cow? Maybe you’d like to reassert your sexy side (after about six weeks post-birth, a flexible underwire is considered safe). Cake has some cute bras in this category, like the Macaroon and the Turkish Delight. But the clear winner for sexy nursing bras is You! Lingerie, which has an extensive selection of colorful, lacy, sassy nursing bras to choose from. Nearly all the sexy ones come with matching panties; you might as well go for it!
The Multitaskers
These bras have got you covered (and uncovered) for nursing AND hands-free pumping. Genius. Two great ones in this category are the Belibea Nourish Bra and the Dairy Fairy Ayla Bra.
The Night Shift
I think one of the worst things about nursing is having to wear a bra to bed. So I like to go for soft, comfy, and wire-free. For this I favor the Gilligan O’Malley nursing bras from Target (2 for $22!). If you want to wear a nursing tee to bed with no bra, try pajamas from Majamas – so soft and cuddly.
The Sports Friendly
If you are a serious athlete, you might want to invest in one of Cake’s super high-performance fancy shmancy sports bras. A much more affordable option is the La Leche League High Impact Sports bra. If you’re like me and only exercise for about 30 minutes at a time, you might just want to wear a regular sports bra with nursing pads in it and then change into a nursing bra after taking a shower.
We’d love to hear about your favorite nursing bras in each category: hard-working, do-everything, sexy, sporty, and sleepy!
[Disclosure: I received some of these bras as gifts and purchased others with my own money; this was not a paid review. All opinions are my own.]
