As Heather and I have given away all of our maternity clothes, donated our front carriers to friends and neighbors, and deemed our families “complete”, we thought it was time to bring in some voices from the frontlines of baby-having. We were thrilled by pretty much every submission we got, and asked some folks to contribute here on RookieMoms.com, while others will be documenting their weekly challenges on their own blogs.
We’ve invited these six rookies to share their stories with us, and we couldn’t be more excited. Please meet our new friends:
Leslie Brinkley
Hi! I’m Leslie ”“ the blogger behind And Her Little Dog Too! I love photography. I am obsessed with Instagram. And I am even more obsessed with my dog, Jackson. I was born & raised in Virginia, now living in Philadelphia with my husband, Charles. We met, fell in love & got married at Villanova University and we are expecting our first child this January!
I love to travel, if I could go somewhere new every other week, I totally would. I am a 3-time marathon runner. I run so I can eat good food & drink fabulous cocktails. I love fashion, shopping & getting a good deal!
Olivia Howell
I’m Olivia, a 28-year old new mom. Professionally, I’m a middle school and Latin teacher. I live on the North Shore of Long Island with my husband and son Weston who was born in August 2013. I’ve been running Lovely at Your Side with my sister for five years.
Heather Osby
Hello! I am from the great state of Iowa, Des Moines to be exact. I live with my husband Tyler, two month-old daughter Piper, born in November 2013, and my extremely naughty– yet hilarious — dog George. After six years in the real estate business, I’ve “retired” to have babies, teach fitness classes, and entertain the world with my random rants and nuggets of wisdom. You can read more from me at www.hotandhealthylife.com.
Whitney Mattocks
Hi, I’m Whitney Mattocks, and I blog over at Whitneydrew.com. I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband, Chris and dog, Chance. I work full time in the e-commerce industry but I also love to write and started my little blog about two years ago. As a former personal trainer I wanted a place to talk about exercise and healthy living ”“ to motivate me and hopefully inspire others. But the more I wrote, the less “fitnessy” my blog became. Instead, it naturally transformed into the story of my life. You get a little workout, a little dinner, a little life stories and a lot of adventures”¦basically a little bit of everything. And now that I’m pregnant with my first child (due mid February 2014) you get to follow along on my journey to motherhood.
Laura Wifler
Hi, I’m Laura! I’m a stay-at-home mom to my nine-month-old son, Eli. I’m crazy about DIYing, nap time, and skinny jeans that feel like maternity jeans. I’m a small-town Iowa transplant, now living in the Twin Cities and still trying to figure out how to avoid rush hour on the interstate and where the nearest cornfield is. I blog about my adventures in motherhood on my blog, Oakland Avenue.
We can’t wait to have these new moms update us on their adventures and challenges. (Leslie’s first post will go up tomorrow.) If you’d like to share yours, we’ll follow you, too! (hashtag #rookiemoms)
